We are pleased to announce the launching of our new website for our Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon, as of 29, January 2016.  Our address remains the same: http://www.skeparchy.org, but check out our new look!  Under “Tools” tab you will still find the link to our old website, as well as a “Site Map” for our new website, which will help you navigate through the different pages of our site.

We are a “work in progress”, so please be patient as we build up our website!  We will continue to work with and for you to build a communications highway for us to stay in touch, be informed and help spread the “Good News” as disciples of Christ!

So check us out, give us your feedback and suggestions.  Send us your parish’s and organization’s contact information, events and news . . . we need you to be part of the link!

God’s Blessings,

"On the Occasion of the Proclamation of the Holy Year of Mercy - December 8, 2015 to November 26, 2016"

On April 12, 2015 during the Solemn Vespers at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Pope Francis formally announced the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy. This announcement takes place when the Holy Father reads a document called a BULL. Link to Papal Bull Misericordiae Vultus.

This is an extraordinary Holy Year since Holy Years are normally every 25 years, the last being 2000. The Jubilee Year begins with the opening of the first Holy Door in Rome at St. Peter's Basilica on December 8, 2015. Regarding the Holy Door during the Jubilee Year of Mercy Pope Francis said, “On that day, the Holy Door will become a Door of Mercy through which anyone who enters will experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instills hope”. The official theme for this year is “Merciful Like The Father” based on Lk 6:36 “Be merciful, as your Father is merciful”  Read More »»

Bishop Bryan Bayda, CSsR, has designated the St. George's Cathedral Holy Door in Saskatoon for the faithful of the Eparchy to enter. Other Holy Doors are designated in the following places:St. Basil’s Church-Regina, St. Joseph’s Home-Saskatoon, Shrine to Blessed Nun  Martyrs Olmpia & Laurentia-Saskatoon, St. Mary’s Church-Yorkton and St. Peter & Paul Church-Canora.

Bishop Bryan wants to highlight how Patriarch Sviatoslav quotes the Holy Father in his pastoral letter to us. "Our mercy should primarily be directed to our family members and neighbours, s o that in the words of, Pope Francis, the door of every home becomes “the door of mercy”. Indeed, you can personally decorate or designate the front doors of your personal homes as a ‘holy door’, so that you are reminded to extend the mercy of God to all who enter.   Read Patriarch Sviatoslva's Pastoral Letter »»  Read Decree - The Holy Year of Mercy in the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church - 2015-12--02-12»»      The Pope explains the motives and expectations of the Jubilee of Mercy »»
