closing-of-holy-doors-heading

The closing of the Holy Doors at St. George’s Cathedral on Monday, November 14, 2016, marked the conclusion of the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

The evening commenced with confessions and Divine Liturgy and closed with a final procession, Moleben and prayer.  Fr. Janko Kolosnjaji, Fr. Michael Smolinski, CSsR, (Ss Peter & Paul) and Fr. Andre Lalach (Dormition) concelebrated services.  Fr. Graham Hill, CSsR, from our neighboring Guadalupe RC Parish assisted with confessions.  Also in attendance were Fr. Mudri, and Fr. L Malkov, CSsR.

A beautiful warmth imbued the Cathedral throughout the evening.  The beautiful cries of babies, the laughter of children, and the warm fellowship of the faithful from a variety of parishes filled the Cathedral.  Many shared their experiences passing through Holy Doors over the course of the Jubilee Year of Mercy.  This was a treasured pilgrimage opportunity.

Our warmest gratitude to the Ukrainian Sisters of St. Joseph for having gifted us with beautiful icons for our Holy Doors at our Cathedral and throughout our Eparchy.

Go forth.  Be the mercy you wish to see in the world…
