The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother of God began as a remodeled military chapel relocated from Mossbank to Moose Jaw. This structure was replaced in 1964 by the present church, which was beautifully decorated by the artist Theodore Baran.

Ukrainian settlers began arriving in the area in 1910 and were initially served by the Redemptorists until a resident priest was assigned by the eparchy in 1948.

At present, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother of God in Moose Jaw is served by clergy from St. Athanasius in Regina.
