Goals (Aims)

Four goals (aims) define the purpose and activities of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood of Canada. These goals are intended to develop the Catholic faith, cultivate Canadian citizenship, and maintain a Ukrainian Catholic identity:

1. Catholic Faith:
Develop and enrich the religious and spiritual life in the parish, thereby strengthening the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada.

2. Ukrainian Culture:
Preserve, develop, and perpetuate the Ukrainian language and culture to strengthen our identity.

3. Canadian Citizenship:
Strengthen the spiritual dimensions and moral values of Canadian life.

4. Social Development:
Initiate and support programs of charitable and social action which exemplify Christian ideals of justice and love.

These goals (aims) were adopted at the December, 1932 Convention in Saskatoon, and have remained unchanged for 90 years. They provide a framework for all activities at the National, Eparchial, and Local (Branch) levels.

Membership

Any Ukrainian Catholic male from age 18 up who is a member of a Catholic parish is eligible for membership. Prerequisites include being a practicing Catholic, exemplary character, and Canadian citizenship. Brothers who are recognized for outstanding service are awarded the title Knight of St. Volodymyr (KSV) or Order of Merit (OM). These awards are granted at the National Convention.
