Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and had time to rest and rejuvenate for 2022. We
would like to thank the CSCC angels for the St. Nicholas presents! We all enjoyed St. Nicholas’ visit and kind words,
and the students were over the moon when they saw the St. Nicholas gifts. Thank you to pani Olha for organizing this,
as well as to the many organizations and people who donated items. We would also like to thank all students and staff
for all their work in preparing the Christmas Concert Showcase and shared their gifts and talents with our Filevich
Families. The video link that was sent out was enjoyed by many during the Christmas break. We would also like to
thank the Knights of Columbus Sheptytsky Council #4938 and The Stephen and Micheline Worobetz Foundation for
their donations to our school programming. We appreciate your gifts very much.
Some exciting things happened at Bishop Filevich over the Christmas break. We were fortunate to get a bathroom
renovation. Our front girls’ bathroom was completely redone with new flooring, countertops, sinks, taps and partitions.
Thank you to the division and its team for getting this done for us, with very little disruption to our routine.
As of Monday, January 10th, our division has changed a few of the protocols in our school building. During this time,
there will be a pause on all parent volunteers within our schools. Parents are permitted to come in to pick up or drop off
their children but are encouraged not to congregate in entrances and hallways. Along with parents, guest speakers
are currently on pause as well. Thank you in advance for your cooperation through this.
The first week back definitely came in with some freezing temperatures, but we all made it into this week. Thank you
for your understanding with our busses being cancelled last week, and we hope that it did not cause too many
schedule interferences. This week we welcome the beautiful weather but ask that you remind your children to come
prepared with jackets, gloves and hats, to go outside during break times. Although it is warming up, we still want to
ensure they are warm enough to stay outside for the duration of the recess break. As always, if it drops below –25
degrees, we will have an indoor recess, but above that temperature, students will be expected to play outside.
As always, if you have any concerns, please feel free to contact the school and teachers. We are here to ensure
everyone is safe, happy and learning.
