 Communications Coordinator

Full-time (40 hours per week)

 

The Eparchy of Saskatoon is accepting applications for a Permanent Full-time Communications Coordinator position, (40 hours per week, flex time). Safeguarding Protocols will be required, including Criminal Record Check, (prior to interview), and Covenant of Care Training for the successful applicant. Duties will commence on January 4, 2022. Summary and Accountability:

Under the direction of the Bishop, or his designate, the Communication Coordinator works in ensuring that our Eparchy, Ministries and Organizations are made more visible to our Ukrainian Catholic community, both locally, nationally and internationally, through the development and maintenance of our Eparchial websites, Social Media, communication of materials and resources to our clergy, parish offices, communication reps and organizations, ensuring that information is shared and accessible, and to continue to develop better communication networks throughout our Eparchy.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing support and assistance to and maintaining relationships with the Eparchial Communications Network – Eparchial ministries, staff, clergy, parishes, communication reps and organizations; focusing on community engagement and organizational communications
  • Co-ordinate the flow of information to the faithful of the Eparchy through bulletin notices, inserts and e-mails
  • Designing/Coordinating notices as required by the Bishop/his designate, or various ministries within the Eparchial offices
  • Assisting in gathering, verifying, and distributing Eparchial policies/standards, communiqués, activities, and information
  • Preparing and distributing Eparchial press and media releases
  • Providing consultation, advice and guidance on media / public relations matters to the Bishop and to Eparchial staff
  • Maintain familiarity with clergy and parishes in our Eparchy and networking contacts throughout the province (i.e., other Eparchies, RC Dioceses, Catholic School Boards, etc.)
  • Development and growth of our Eparchial website (skeparchy.org), and the continual updating of information, news, and events and for the websites for Ukrainian Catholic Foundation of Saskatchewan (ucfsask.org) and Youth and Young Adults (UCYA)
  • Prioritizing the items submitted for the Eparchial websites and responding to requests from outside parties for articles
  • Maintaining regular back-up and updates of the Eparchial website and the websites for UCFSASK, UCYA and FLO (Family and Life Office)
  • Reviewing and compiling statistical data of public usage of our websites
  • Overseeing the posting of relevant, original, high-quality content for the Eparchial social media channels
  • Overseeing the graphics for the Eparchy’s social media channels’ cover, profile pic, etc.
  • Analyzing the social media presence of similar organizations; creating a publishing schedule that maximized content impact
  • Monitoring and responding to online reviews
  • Monitoring trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design, and strategy
  • Developing and expanding community outreach efforts through social media by providing social media support to the parishes and organizations of the Eparchy
  • Acquire and maintain resources appropriate to the activities of the office
  • Implementing ongoing education to remain highly effective
  • Provide reports showing results as requested
  • Maintain compliance with all Eparchy policies and procedures
  • Carry out additional duties as directed by the Bishop or his designate

    Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external personnel
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and maximum precision and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
  • Knowledge of website programs and social media platforms: WordPress, WINSCP, cPanel/Webmail, Livestream (RTSP.ME), html codes, Facebook, Tweeter, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
  • Familiar with publishing and graphic programs like Adobe, PaintNet, etc., and digital management techniques
  • Knowledge/Understanding of Ukrainian language and Ukrainian keyboard an asset for website communication
  • Working knowledge of office equipment (i.e., printers, fax)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out tasks to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Post-secondary education preferably in communications, website design, marketing, or public relations and/or equivalent experience required
