Eparchy of Saskatoon – Cantors’ Workhop
with Fr. John Sianchuk, CSsR: A Great Success!

The Eparchial Funded Cantors’ Workshop, held on June 7 and 8, was a great success!

It was attended by 37 participants from throughout the Eparchy of Saskatoon. Fr. John Sianchuk, CSsR, travelled from Winnipeg to instruct both new and current cantors from throughout our Eparchy in how to cantor with specific attention to: the Divine Liturgy, 8 tones of the Resurrection, Panakhyda Service, Moleben in Honour of Christ the Lover of Mankind, and Moleben in Honour of Mary the Mother of God. Fr. John not only shared valuable instruction, but provided the participants with material, both paper and audio, giving us the skills needed to be cantors within our parish communities in our Eparchy.

The participants would like to thank Fr. John for his valuable instruction. We would also like to thank the UCWLC of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish, particularly Gloria Pryma and Kasie Leschyshyn, for enriching us with food throughout our long Saturday to give us the fuel needed to keep going! And finally, thank you to the Ukrainian Catholic Foundation of Saskatchewan and the Eparchy of Saskatoon, which, through the Eparchial Appeal initiative, funded this valuable workshop. The participants all look forward to sharing what they learned with their home parishes.
