On July 23/24, 2022 the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon commemorated several special events at St. Volodymyr Eparchial Park and Camp, near Pike Lake, Saskatchewan and at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The 40th Anniversary of the Park Chapel of St. Volodymyr, the 90th Anniversary of the National Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood of Canada Organization, the end of the camp week, but most momentously, the life of Fr. Wolodymyr Iwaszko who spearheaded the founding of the Park and Camp and was a figurehead for youth and church leadership in our Eparchy and in Ukraine. The book entitled “From Sambir to Saskatoon” was launched at these events which was compiled by Viktoriia Marko, the Youth and Young Adult Minister for the Eparchy. Members of Fr. Iwaszko’s family were present and many shared stories of the impact that Fr. Iwaszko had on their lives through the Ukrainian Scouting organization, Plast, and his leadership in various pastoral assignments throughout the Eparchy.
