St. Josaphat Kunsevich Council 13129 – Saskatoon
In the winter of 2001/02, three Knights of Columbus members: Albert Zaiachkowski, Thomas Zolinski and Andreas Praksas came together to discern the formation of a council in the Ukrainian Catholic Dormition of the Blessed Mother of God Parish. From this meeting it was decided, first, that the Dormition of the Blessed Mother of God Parish council should be contacted and met with in this regard; then, an Open House be held to attract candidates and any members of the Knights of Columbus wishing to transfer to a newly formed council. A charter night was held and 35 men showed an interest in a council being formed.
On June 23, 2002, the Knights of Columbus St. Josaphat Kunsevich Council 13129 was instituted. At the evening program, State Deputy Nestor Trach, presented the council charter to Grand Knight John Kurysh.
St. Josaphat Kunsevich No.#13129 has aided the Dormition Parish, providing many volunteer hours and funds for maintaining the parish church, hall and events. It is from this support for the parish that the council received the 2007 Knights of Columbus Saskatchewan State Council Award for donating funds to the parish Sunday School program.
Since the inception of the council four charter members have past away: Orest Holowka, William Worona Peter Kondra; and William Bidulka and 17 Catholic gentlemen have accepted the invitation to join the Catholic Family Fraternal Service organization.
Present members of St. Josaphat Kunsevich Co.#13129 are:
