Welcome to Part 2 of the Laudato Si’ video series on the papal encyclical about the environment. Although our ecological challenges are usually considered in the contexts of economics, politics, and science, Pope Francis understands that the language of faith can make a considerable and essential contribution to the discussion.
Papal encyclicals traditionally follow a three-part outline: first, a reflection on contemporary society, then an analysis of the deeper challenges, and finally, an exhortation to change attitudes and ethics, so that humanity can collectively ascend to a higher level of being. Laudato Si’ likewise follows this methodology of Catholic social teaching: see, judge, and act.
