The Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the UGCC was damaged in a massive attack by drone strikes in Kyiv on the night of November 25.
During the attack, one of the Shaheds (Drone or UAV) was shot down in the Dniprovsky district of Kyiv, near the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ and the residence of the Head of the UGCC. The shock wave damaged the doors and smashed windows in the cathedral. A multi-storey building near the church suffered more damage.

“As a result of the drone attack on Kyiv, six windows in the basement of the Patriarchal Cathedral were damaged. The blast wave knocked out the glass units. The fittings on four doors of the church were damaged, everything was torn out of the door locks,” Mr. Vasyl Bukatyuk, Director of the Construction Directorate under the Patriarch of the UGCC, told the UGCC Information Department.

In addition to the church, he said, the residence of the head of the church was also damaged: “In the Patriarchal residence and the Patriarchal Curia, the fittings of three doors were damaged.”

In addition, minor damage was recorded to the facade of the Patriarchal Cathedral. Many fragments of the drone of various sizes were collected on its territory. “In exchange for gifts from St. Nicholas, we will receive original souvenirs,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
