Pope Francis’ Prayer Intention

for the Month of January 2022

For true human fraternity

We pray for all those suffering from religious discrimination and persecution; may their own rights and dignity be recognized, which originate from being brothers and sisters in the human family.

January Reflection – For True Human Fraternity

We pray for all those suffering from religious discrimination and persecution; may their own rights and dignity be recognized, which originate from being brothers and sisters in the human family

Fraternity is a marriage of love and faith. It calls us to be compassionate and drives us forward to recognize our brothers and sisters to the fullest capacity regardless of religious, socioeconomic or other status. A call not only to recognize God given dignity but to honor it. In Galatians 5:13 Christ compels us to use our freedom to serve one another through love. A love that is made manifest in fraternal love and mutual respect.

Religious discrimination and persecution – January Pope Video

As much as 67% of the world’s population lives in countries where the right to religious freedom is denied. “How can we allow that in this society, which is so civilized, there are people who are persecuted simply because they publicly profess their faith?” If we allow what makes us different to separate us, we will lose sight of something fundamental: “As human beings, we have so many things in common that we can live alongside each other, welcoming our differences with the joy of being brothers and sisters.” Let us follow the advice the Pope gives us in his January prayer intention: “Let us choose the path of fraternity.”

Prayer of the Month – January 2022

Almighty, everlasting God, look with compassion on all those who suffer persecution for justice’ sake.
Grant them grace to carry their cross with patience in the name of Thy beloved Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Let the chalice pass from them is such by Thy holy Will: yet, in all things, may Thy Will be done.
Grant to those who persecute, light to see the truth, and the grace of mercy and forgiveness,
for they know not what they do.
Mary, Mother of Jesus, Comfort of the Afflicted, help thy children in their time of bitter trial.
O Lord our God, by the sign of Thy holy cross deliver us from our enemies.
