Text: June 24 - Nativity of St. John the Baptist - Tropar, tone 4

Tropar, tone 4:

O Prophet and forerunner of the coming of Christ,*
in spite of our honour and devotion, we are unable to give you worthy praise.*
Through your glorious and noble birth your mother’s childlessness was ended,*
your father’s tongue was freed,*
and the incarnation of Son of God was proclaimed to the world.

Instead of ‘It is truly right…’:

O my soul glorify the birth of John, the forerunner and baptizer of Christ.*
O all-puire Virgin, the ineffable mystery of the Word of God*
is clearly fulfiled in you.*
In his compassion, God has become flesh through you.*
Therefore, we extol you as Theotokos.
