When the disciples of the Lord learned from the angel the glorious news of the resurrection*
and cast off the ancestral condemnation,*
they proudly told the apostles:*
“Death has been plundered! Christ our God is risen*
granting to the world great mercy.”

Tropar of Saint John the Baptist, tone 4:

O Prophet and forerunner of the coming of Christ,*
in spite of our honour and devotion, we are unable to give you worthy praise.*
Through your glorious and noble birth your mother’s childnessness was ended,*
your father’s tongue was freed,*
and the incarnation of Son of God was proclaimed to the world.

Glory be to the Father . . ., tone 4:

My Saviour and Deliverer*
